触手と巨大触手は、通常の攻撃力を持ったキャラクターであれば、[[Spear]]なら15発、[[Bat Bat]]なら12発、[[Tentacle Spike]]なら10発、[[Ham Bat]]か[[Thulecite Club]]なら9発、[[Dark Sword]]なら8発で倒せます。巨大触手を倒した後も穴は残り、また別の巨大触手が現れることもあります。

巨大触手が攻撃を受けるたび、数匹の幼体触手(Baby Tentacle)が出現します。これらの触手は通常の物よりも小さく、槍で一撃で倒すことができます。巨大触手を守るためだけに存在し、アイテムは何もドロップしません。出現すると触手を誇示してきますが、通常の物にあるような棘が付いていません。

巨大触手と幼体触手がしばらく攻撃を受けないと、幼体の方は地中へと帰っていきます。

幼体触手は洞窟内でのみ見られます。

触手は高火力・高体力のために非常に危険です。不注意なプレイヤーは触手が大量に居るエリアに飛び込んでしまい、なす術なくやられてしまうでしょう。触手はプレイヤーや他の動物が近寄ったときにのみ姿を現します。

通常時は泡が地面にかろうじて見えるか見えないか程度で、近づくと紫の泡のように触手の一部が見え、そして触手本体が現れます。生物が攻撃範囲に居る場合は、出現と同時に触手を振り回したあと、上にピンと伸びます。触手が次に攻撃してくるまでには少しだけ時間が空きます。

ターゲットが攻撃範囲より遠くへ行ってしまったら、触手は地面の中へ戻ります。触手はその場から動くことは出来ない為、追いかけてきません。また生き物が攻撃範囲に入ると、再び出現して攻撃を再開します。

触手の攻撃的な特性によって、触手によって殺された生き物や、他の生き物(主に[[Merm|マーム]] )によって殺された触手自身のドロップアイテムが沼地にはよく落ちています。触手は時には1本でクモ4匹を同時に相手にして殲滅してしまいます。

[[Spear|槍（Spear）]]で、15回攻撃すれば倒せます。 きちんと相手の攻撃ターンを見て、すきを突いて攻撃すれば倒せなくも無いですが、難しいでしょう。

テンタクルスには、[[Sleep Dart|スリープダーツ（Sleep Dart）]] や [[Pan Flute|パンフルート（Pan Flute）]]は効果がありません。しかし、 [[Bee Mine|蜂爆弾（Bee Mine）]] はとても効果的です。[[Fire Staff|火の杖（Fire Staff）]]でも燃えません。

テンタクルスの攻撃は、範囲攻撃に見えますが、個々のターゲットされた相手にしかダメージは入りません。 つまり、3人くらい[[Pig|ブタ(Pig)]]を引き連れていけば、簡単に倒せるでしょう。
