Exclusive to: Slingshot Parts are items exclusive to Don't Starve Together that can only be crafted by Walter after unlocking the Basic Customization skill. Players can use the Slingshot Field Kit on a Trusty Slingshot to open the modification menu. There are three types of parts and each grants different benefits to the Trusty Slingshot. After upgrading the Trusty Slingshot, it will be renamed with the player's nickname.
The basic slingshot with no modifications fires at a rate of 1 shot every 0.8s, or 24 frames. A singular "frame" is 1/30th of a second (not to be confused with modification frames).
With no modifications the basic slingshot can hold 120 of any ammo type.
The Slingshot Bands are used to increase Slingshot range and ammo speed. Additionally, the Possessed Slingshot Band also has a 30% chance to fire a mimic shot, consuming no real ammo.
It increases Slingshot range and Ammo traveling speed by 20%. It also has 30% chance to fire a mimic shot, which can fire another ammo of its type without consuming it.
The Advanced Bands skill is not required to get this Band, but it is required for Walter to mod and use the Band. The Possessed Slingshot Band cannot be deconstructed.
Handles
The Handles are used to increases Slingshot firing rate and some of the Handles can prevent the Slingshot from slipping out of hands.
“It moderately increases your firing rate, which will ramp up if you shoot continuously.”
-
The Slingshot Grip Tape moderately increases the firing rate, which builds up the longer the player keeps shooting. If the player stops or moves, the speed resets and needs to ramp up again. At max ramp up, the fire rate increases to ~0.63s, (which is a 23.5% reduction in shot cooldown, or a 33% DPS increase of the basic slingshot). A smoke effect appears once the maximum speed is reached.
If you start firing normally directly after shooting with either the scrappy or scrappier frame, the slingshot will start firing at its maximum ramp up.
