The Snowball is an item that spawns randomly in winter during snowfall on the surface. It can be equipped in the hands and thrown, hitting in an AОЕ. The Snowballs do not cause damage, but they freeze the target equivalent to 0.2 hits from an Ice Staff. They can also be thrown into a Fire or burning object to extinguish it. Similar to Ice, the Snowballs can be used to fill the Watering Can and Waterfowl Can. One Snowball refills 0.3 use.

When the Snowball is on the ground, the player can start to roll it. After a few seconds of rolling, it will become a Large Snowball if there is snow on the ground. If rolled on Docks, Vine Bridge or Ice Floe, the Snowball will not turn into Large Snowball. The player can stack it on a Snowball or Large Snowball to create a Snowman.

When the temperature is above 0, it melts after 2 days. If it melts in the player's inventory, it will increase player's wetness by 1 point. If it melts on a Farm Soil Turf, it will increase its moisture by 10 points. It melt fasster when it is clouse to Fire. Doesn't melt in the Ice Box.

Roll'em! Stack'em! Decorate them with a variety of items!

-Scrapbook Description

The Large Snowball is heavy item that can be rolled or equipped in the body slot. There are two sizes of the Large Snowball: Medium and Large. If player rolls the medium version of Large Snowball when there is snow on the ground, it will become the large version. The player can stack it on a Snowball or another Large Snowball, after that it will become a Snowman and cannot be moved again. If player hammers it, it will drop Snowballs.

When the global temperature is above 5, the Large Snowball will melt. Players can use Embalming Spritz to stop it from melting, but after that, it can't be rolled, decorated, picked up or stacked on other Snowballs.

Wanda

The Snowman is built from stacking Snowballs or Large Snowballs. The player can stack 6 Snowballs at max. Large Snowball (medium) counts as 2 Snowballs and Large Snowball (Large) counts as 3 Snowballs.

When the Global Temperature is above 5, Snowman will melt and will break down. Players can use Embalming Spritz to stop it from melting, but after that, it can't be decorated or stacked on other Snowballs. If the Snowman is in range of the activated Ice Crystaleyezer, it will never melt.

Decorating

The Snowmen and Large Snowballs can be decorated with the items listed below. The maximum are 30 items. The food that is used as decor does not spoil. Also, players can give it head slot items, except the Void Cowl and Brightshade Helm. Perishable hats on Snowmen still spoil after the Snowmen is waxed by Embalming Spritz.

If they start to break down because of melting or hammering, first the equipped hat drops, then decorative items drop, and then the Snowman breaks up into snowballs and large snowballs from which it was made and a large snowball breaks up into smaller snowballs.

Placeholder.png Trivia

  • The first mention of Snowballs in game files dates back to February 26, 2013 with the release of the "A Winter's Tale" update in Don't Starve beta tests. An Unimplemented Snowman Mob was supposed to throw them to attack.
