Wortox (Don't Starve Together)
Unlocking
Wortox is a DLC character, who must be woven using spools or purchased in the shop.
Perks
- When a creature or player dies within 20 units of Wortox, they will drop a Soul – Webber will drop two Souls, WX-78 drops none, and Boss Monsters will drop 7-8. Souls vanish after 10 seconds, but can be picked up by Wortox. Souls have four uses:
- They can be eaten, restoring +25
but costing -5
. - They can be released to heal Wortox and nearby allies in a AOE up to 20
(decreasing by 2 points for each extra survivor down to 5), and give Wortox 2.5
. - They can be used to "Soul Hop" (teleport) a short distance away, functioning identically to The Lazy Explorer, before going on cooldown. Wortox can teleport again with the same Soul if he's quick enough, which is known as a Soul Echo.
- Wortox can carry Heavy Items, but while doing so Soul Hops will cost double, and he will be unable to utilize Soul Echoes.
- They can be used to teleport to any explored location on the map, costing up to 20 depending on distance.
- Wortox can Soul Hop onto a Boat as long as it has an Ocuvigil on it.
- They can be eaten, restoring +25
- Wortox has a 0.5x Sanity modifier against anything that has a negative Sanity Aura. This includes Insanity auras from Monsters, Structures, Objects, Items (on the ground) or even an Evil Flower.
- Wortox's Favorite Food is Pomegranates, raw and cooked, which restore an additional +15
than usual. However, his food penalty still applies to them, which means they only restore ~12-13 hunger.
Disadvantages
- Wortox's body craves Souls above all else, reducing the effects of other Foods by 0.5x. This applies to both positive and negative effects, however, meaning that Wortox loses less Health and/or Sanity from consuming foods like raw Monster Meat.
- Wortox normally can only hold up to 20 Souls, stating when he is nearly at his limit. Upon collecting any more Souls above the limit, he will drop half and loses sanity from it. This limit goes up by 5 per Soul Jar carried with the Overflowing Greed Skill.
- Since Wortox is a monster, Pigs, Catcoons, and Bunnymen are hostile towards him and will attack on sight unless he is Nice inclined.
Skill Tree

The Scales
Wortox's Skill Tree uses a unique Scales system that will significantly impact his playstyle. Choosing a skill on one side of the scale tips it towards that inclination. Once enough points are put into a side, Wortox will get his inclination changed. Choosing an affinity skews the scales, and both inclinations get a point applied to them.
Nice
When Nice inclined, Wortox will no longer be seen as a monster by mobs, and they will be neutral to him as a result. Each Soul released will now restore +5
to Wortox, while eating one takes away -10
.
When Wortox is Nice, he will play a unique idle animation of him swinging his tail.

Tips
- To easily farm Souls, players can keep a few Flowers around their base and kill the Butterflies that spawn.
- Other easy moveable mob spawners are Spider Dens and Bee Boxes.
- It may also be worthwhile to get Soul Pierce or Soul Decoy skills to quickly harvest Souls.
- The Killer Bees Plain Biome is a desired place for Wortox to farm lots of Souls without needing to set up.
- Because he's invincible while Soul Hopping, Wortox can use his Soul Hop ability to easily kite large mobs such as Deerclops and Bearger. Players can simply attack until the opponent is about to attack back, then Soul Hop while the enemy is attacking.
- When you have the skill Overflowing Greed, making 4 soul jars not only lets you carry a stack of souls in one slot, it also allows you to fill up your entire hotbar, instantly releasing any souls you collect. This is useful when fighting lots of enemies or bosses with a lot of summons, like Bee Queen.
- If you are using Lifted Spirits I, it is reccomended to walk as much as you can before using Soul Echo, as you get increased walking speed before using said Soul Echo.
- It is recommended to get the Reverberation skill to utilize his Soul Hopping ability and cost. It also synergizes with his Affinity skills.
- The Bee Queen Crown is half as effective on Wortox, due to his 0.5x Sanity modifier against insanity auras.
- If playing with a Wurt, a Clever Disguise will prevent Catcoons and Bunnymen from being hostile to Wortox.
- Wortox is able to easily heal Wormwood in order to produce a large amount of Living Logs.
- Wortox's souls are one of the few types of healing Woodie can benefit from while in his Weremoose form.
- In a PvP server, killing a Wortox will result in all of his Souls being released.
- This can used to the player's personal advantage, targeting Wortox so they can heal themselves after he is killed.
