Terramites are minions that fight alongside Enlightened W.A.R.B.O.T.. They are created by the Grainy Transmission after giving him an encapsulated Gestalt.
When Terramites are activated by Enlightened W.A.R.B.O.T., they will start synchronously spinning around it. If they touch objects that can be chopped, they will chop them. If they touch objects that can be mined, they will mine them and bounce away from them. They bounce when they touch each other.
When they touch any player mob, they deal 50 damage and play a little stun animation. If player is wearing hard armor, there is a 50% chance that they will not be damaged, bouncing away the Terramite. The following armor is considered hard:
Sometimes,[Need Clarification] all Terramites will stop spinning temporarily and activate lightning barriers between each other. Every Terramite creates a barrier between itself and the 3-4 nearest other Terramites. Lightning barriers deal 30 Electric Damage, meaning players that aren't immune to Lightning will take 45 damage, and wet players that aren't immune to Lightning take 75 damage.[Verification Needed] It will deal damage every second when the player is standing on the barrier, which makes the player play the stun animation. Players wearing Lightning protection gear like an Eyebrella will get damaged by the barrier less often.
If a Terramite is defeated, it will break and stop moving. In this state, it heals 5
per second and reactivates once it gets back to its full 280
, which takes 56 seconds.
After Enlightened W.A.R.B.O.T. is defeated, they become inactive and friendly.
Fighting Strategy
Below is the number of hits it takes with each weapon to kill a Terramite when playing with characters with a default damage modifier. The Weather Pain, Brightshade Staff, and Bee Mine are not included due to their random natures. This table does not take into account the damage bonus gained from characters with a lunar or shadow affinity. It also does not take into account the 40% damage bonus Wendy gets from attacking the same mob as Abigail, Wanda's damage bonus with Shadow weapons (except for the Alarming Clock, which does accurately reflect that bonus), or Wolfgang's damage multiplier when he isn't mighty.
Friendly Terramites
After defeating Enlightened W.A.R.B.O.T., Terramites becomes inactive and can be hammered or repaired.
When hammered, a Terramite drops 1 Gyroscopic Transduction Core, 1 Gears (with 33% chance to drop another), 2 Scraps (with 50% chance to drop another), and 66.7% chance to drop a Electrical Doodad.
The Gyroscopic Transduction Core can be used to repair a damaged Terramite. After repairing, the Terramite can be used to automatically chop trees, mine rocks in an approximately 5 tile radius from where it is deployed and inadvertently harvest resources in their path while spinning. When it tries to mine, it will bounce from it and have 50% chance to not object.[Need Clarification]. Terramites will also bounce off buildings, planted Bee Mines and Shell Bells.
Terramites damage mobs aggressively disposed towards the player that are in their path, which means they do not damage almost all passive mobs, neutral mobs until provoked and some hostile mobs until they aggro on the player (while the player is far away, hiding in a Bush Hat, Snurtle Shell Armor or wears Clever Disguise for Merms and Loyal Merm Guards). They also damage some structures.
Once no more targets are detected in the radius where it was deployed, it will return to the place where it was dropped and idle. However, if there is another friendly Terramite, they will ride towards each other and bounce off when they touch. This does not consume durability.
It has 2000 uses and can be repaired using a Gyroscopic Transduction Core. Once it reaches 0% durability, it will break.
Things a Terramites can harvest
When Terramites harvest Spiky bushes, Roses, and Cactus, they take damage.
Things a Terramites will chop
Terramites don't bounce from Mini Glaciers and Ice Spikes, meaning they chop them.
Things a Terramites will mine
Terramites will mine Dreadstone Outcrop endlessly. The Tidy Hidey-Hole will be mined when it is ornate. It is not recommended to mine the Glommer's Statue.
Mobs that will always take damage
Spiders and Damaged Clockwork will take damage even if they are friendly as will Powder Monkeys and Prime Mate when playing as Wonkey. Grumble Bees summoned with Apicultural Notes will not take damage.
Structures that will take damage
In contrast to Terramites fought during the Enlightened W.A.R.B.O.T. boss fight, friendly Terramites do not damage players.
