i have to tell you all 2 trues:

1- Waxwell is the pure version of Maxwell, when he is free of the demon on its soul, thats why he says free when you play with play with him.

2-Maxwell is the Grue when its soul is possessed by that demon, because his hand and the hand of the demon in the video and in the main menu are identic, and they're eyes with low sanity in the night and his eyes normally are identic, too.
