So Webber is the only playable character besides Wilson and Maxwell so far who's been given a backstory? 

So he's a child, but he's old enough to grow a beard? So then he must have been in his current form for years now. 

So from what I understand, Maxwell brought Webber to the DS world when he was a boy. Webber must have had some sort of magical item that saved him from being eaten by the spider, or some third party used magic to fuse them together. I don't think it's likely Webber was in his spider form BEFORE Maxwell brought him into the DS world.
