Bro if you wanna be able to explore and you really hate these depths worms go into the game files under data > scripts, open the file called tuning.lua and look for WORM_HEALTH = 900 and change it to like, 1 or something. Problem solved ok? 1 hit from anything, even rocks falling from earthquakes, will kill them ok.

Also if you'd like you can change their dmg too. WORM_DAMAGE = 75
