I haven't seen anyone complaining about the DST boat system, some even acting as though they LIKE it! I have several points as to why the DST boats are bad.

First of all, they made extra work for thmselves. WHY? Just to keep Shipwrecked Together from being asked for? They are not listening to the community. That is my 1st complaint.

In order to dive into my second complaint, we have to explain the DST system. In order to build a floating wooden circle, you need 4 boards. That's already more boards then SW's row boat. But in order to gain access to the circles, we need to build a think tank, costing 4 more boards. But before the circle even moves, you need an oar or sail. First, the oar. It only costs 1 log, but isn't even worth that. Your "raft" will move at a snail's pace, and you might "fail to row", increasing your wetness by a surprising amount and not moving. Sails are slightly faster, and bypass the wetness increase, but it costs 8 silk, 3 rope, and 3 more boards. Each extra sail increases speed by 30% of normal, up to 3. If using sails, you will also need a steering wheel. That's 2 boards and a rope. The steering wheel lets you control where you are going if you have a sail. All these resources are sunk (no pun intended) into a thing so very fragile. Whenever you bump into land or an obstacle at sea, a large portion of "boat" duability is removed. The only way to avoid this is by building a anchor kit, costing 2 boards, 3 cut stone, and 2 rope.

Alright, so let's add up the resources, considering you have one of each: 15 boards, 6 rope, a log, 8 silk, and 3 cut stone. That's a LOT.

is that it? Of course not! You can and probably should place structures on your circle, costing even more resources. This is the first good thing there is about this system. However, since most mobs cannot board your thing or swim, this means an exploit with the Houndius Shootius. Anchor it offshore and you can cheese almost anything. The wood circle's only good use outside of the former, an exploit, is as a bridge. A line of deployed boats can cross any gap if long enough.

What about the Lunar Island? not worth it. An approach much more worth it is to have Woodie in his goose form find the island, then build a boat bridge to it. I realy like the Lunar Island concept, but it being locked behind the seafaring nonsense? Just not worth it.

The boats in RoT are just too complicated. Keep the lunar Island Klei, but use the Shipwrecked system and features, please. I want the best for DST, so I don't want forgotten features. RoT can still be redeemed, and honored along with A New Reign.
