He also says "Reminds me of my mother" when examining the Metal Potato.

And we all know Metal Potato is a reference to GLaDoS from Portal, being in a potato battery in a game part.

So, when he says "Mother?" to the Science Machine, it might be a reference to Portal.

But what is wierder, WHY sending WX-78 in the Don't Starve world? He is a soulless automation, not a human you want to kill.
