Codex Umbra.png This is a policy page for Don't Starve Wiki.
It contains widely accepted standards that editors should normally follow. Any significant changes must require community consensus. You can make a discussion in forum.

Deletion of an article removes the current version and all previous versions from public view. Page blanking can be performed (or reverted) by any user, but only administrators can perform deletion, view deleted pages, and reverse ("undelete") any deletion. All such actions are recorded in the deletion log. Administrators will not delete articles unless a consensus is reached, or several requirements are fulfilled.

Deletion is reversible, however, it only occurs after a community discussion. Generally users should insert one of the following templates in the article which is proposed for deletion.

Such article will be categorized under Category:Articles to be deleted for further review by administrators.

Nevertheless, the process of discussion can be skipped if the article fits into the criteria of speedy deletion.

When do you request for deletion

If you consider the article inappropriate or unnecessary, you may want to insert the templates and have a discussion the Don't Starve Wiki community. After reaching a consensus, administrators will decide whether or not to delete the article.

However, if the page is created by malicious reasons such as vandalism and spamming, you may report to any administrators on their message wall and label the page with {{Speedydelete}}. See speedy deletion.

Alternatives to deletion

  1. Edit and discussion - if editing/revert can improve a page, this should be done rather than deleting the page.
  2. Tagging - tag the article with {{Stub}} or {{Incomplete}} to warn the readers and to allow interested editors to easily locate and fix the problems.
  3. Merging - tag the article with {{Merge|<reason>}}, admins will consider to merge two pages together if those content are highly duplicated.
  4. Redirecting - sometimes an unsuitable article may have a title that would make a useful redirect.
  5. Incubation - there are articles which have potential but fail to meet Don't Starve Wiki standards, you may consider edit the article in your userpage subpage (e.g. User:XXX/Sandbox) and publish it later.
