trinkets are dropped when a pirate monkey dies. if the player is too far away the trinket is not picked up automatically (I think other players can pick up a trinket that you caused to drop by killing a monkey) if you die you are returned to your normal character but the trinkets drop and you will pick them up again if you get close to the trinkets "effectively reducing the player by one inventory slot" -> more than one inventory slot can be blocked if you have multiple stacks
