麦斯避役是一只来自饥荒: 哈姆雷特 DLC中的变色龙，玩家会在开始游戏的时候看到它。它负责向玩家致以问候（类似于很多游戏开头的解说文字），就像麦斯威尔一样，而且它的名字（Maxameleon）似乎也取自麦斯威尔的名字(Maxwell)。在说完话之后它会消失，但可在消失前按左键检查。

台词引用

在问候角色时，麦斯避役会这样嘲讽：

当玩家选择沃姆伍德时，麦斯避役会这么说：

• 麦斯避役的外形是按高冠变色龙设计的。

• 图书管理员将麦斯避役称为“Chamaeleoninae Evaporatus”（易挥发的变色龙？），Chamaeleoninae是变色龙的拉丁学名，Evaporatus可能指它说完话之后会消失。
