There is a trade and market relationship in the Gorge. Humanoids of one kind or another may offer the survivalists items or resources that can help satisfy the insatiable Maw. The inhabitants of The Gorge use small disc-shaped objects as currency: coins, medallions, etc., given by the Mouth itself for various dishes. Swamp Pigs use other items for trade, however.

For grubbing different dishes, the Mouth spits out a different amount of certain types of currency. Also, the amount of currency is influenced by its desire / unwillingness to eat this type of dish and its spoilage. Rounds drop out near the altar of the Maw and remain there until some player picks them up. If players want to win, they need to spend their Gluttony currency wisely.

Since Maw always issues currency, all currencies are renewable.

Old Coin is the very first currency that players come across. Mumsy gives 10 old coins at the very beginning of the game. Old coins can be obtained for almost any dish. Old coins are accepted by all merchants (not counting swamp pigs). Wes's skill at bargaining eloquently lowers the price of an item by one coin, except for those initially costing one coin.

Sapphire Medallion is a more valuable currency than old coins. Medallions fall for more valuable dishes: for example, for the first dessert served at the right time, or for the initial dishes served in a silver bowl. For medallions, you can buy silver dishes from Mumsy, and Sammy will willingly exchange one for a key to the park of sugar trees. As with old coins, for Wes to exchange with Mamzi, you can reduce the number of required medallions by one.

The Red Mark is a pretty valuable currency. Spat out with Pasta for solid dishes that require 4 ingredients, or for a dessert based on syrup. For red marks, you can purchase the tools needed to extract ingredients for cooking delicacies, or the ingredients themselves. Red marks from any seller are required in the amount of one piece, so Wes's bonus to eloquence will not help in this case.

An object in which magical energy is concentrated. Awarded by Pastu only for the most delicious and served dishes, as well as for desserts with milk. Mumsy needs 3 Gnaw's Favor to charge the Ancient Key. There is no limit on the number of keys, Mumsy will always charge keys if she has the favors of the Gnaw.
