Toma Root is a Vegetable Food Item in Don't Starve Together. Toma Root can be Farmed with a moderate chance from planting Seeds, or by using Toma Root Seeds.

When eaten raw, it restores 3 Health and 12.5 Hunger. Toma Root takes 6 days to spoil. It can be used as an ingredient in several Crock Pot recipes and is required for Spicy Vegetable Stinger, Salsa Fresca and Moqueca. Feeding a Toma Root to a bird in a Birdcage will produce 1 Toma Root Seed, as of the "Reap What You Sow" update.

Placeholder.png Trivia

  • The Toma Root was originally exclusive to The Gorge event, but it was later introduced into the main game in the Warly Character Update.
  • The binomical name Wickerbottom gives for the fruit and its seed, Solanum lycopersicum, is identical to that of normal tomatoes.
  • It is unclear how the developers settled on the name "toma root". The word "tomato" appears much more often in game text than the phrase "toma root", appearing in examination quotes, the item description of Rude Interlude, and the Plant Registry "field note" of the Toma Root plant.
    • One potential explanation for their name could be the fact that all crops would grow within soil in The Gorge event, and since Toma Roots resemble Tomatoes, which do not grow within the ground directly but rather from a vine, they settled on the name "Toma Root".
