Winona

Winona's G.E.M.erator is a Character-exclusive Structure craftable only by Winona in Don't Starve Together. It is found in the Structures Filter and Survivor Items Filter and requires one Trusty Tape, two Boards, and two Electrical Doodads to craft. Like the Winona's Generator it is used to power nearby Winona's Catapults and Winona's Spotlights.

When being placed, the generator will show a circular area where its effect will be active, with a smaller circle around the generator itself (preventing other structures from being built on top of it). Once placed, eligible structures can be "connected" to the generator simply by building it within its area of effect.

A full Winona's G.E.M.erator has a charge of 2880 (6 days). Each connected structure drains 1 charge per second. If a structure is connected to multiple generators the drain is divided by the number of connected generators. The generator itself has a minimal drain of 0.2 charge per second. Once fueled, the generator cannot be turned off and it will keep running until it runs out of fuel.

A Winona's G.E.M.erator starts without charge. It can be filled with Gems of any color to add one third of full charge per Gem. The Iridescent Gem cannot be used as fuel.

Gems are stored by supplied order in the top part of the Winona's G.E.M.erator. Every time the generator uses 1/3 of its charge, a gem is destroyed. Upon destruction of Winona's G.E.M.erator, all stored gems are dropped except the last supplied gem.

Insight.png Skill Tree

Portability.png Portability

With Portability skill, Winona can craft Winona's G.E.M.erator in item form. She can then deploy or dismantle it. Also, when crafting, it gives Winona's G.E.M.erator as item.

Energy-Saver.png Energy-Saver

With Energy-Saver skill, placed G.E.M.erator will no longer consume energy while structures connect to it are not in use.

Greater Generator I.png Greater Generator

Greater Generator skill increase the efficiency of the G.E.M.erator by 25% (Level I), 50% (Level II) or 100% (Level III).

Enlightened G.E.M.erator.png Enlightened G.E.M.erator

With Enlightened G.E.M.erator skill, Winona can use Enlightened Shard to charge Winona's G.E.M.erator. Winona's G.E.M.erator with Enlightened Shard will not discharge (the G.E.M.erator gains infinite energy), instead the G.E.M.erator may overload if it runs out of charge too quickly. The more Enlightened Shard it contains, the more G.E.M.erator can withstand. If the G.E.M.erator is overloaded, it goes into a cooldown to 10 seconds and will start working again by turning on all gadgets.

Brilliance G.E.M.erator.png Brilliance G.E.M.erator

With Brilliance G.E.M.erator skill, Winona can use Pure Brilliance to charge Winona's G.E.M.erator. Catapults charged by Pure Brilliance will deal 30 physical damage and 17 planar damage. Also it will deal +10% damage to Shadow Aligned creatures.

Prototype.png Tips

  • Since a G.E.M.erator will last 6 days total if fully fueled, each stored gem will provide up to 2 days of fuel if only one structure is powered by it.
  • Considering the ease of obtaining Red Gems and Blue Gems compared to other colors, they should always be prioritized for fueling the generator.
  • Since the generator cannot be fueled in advance, it may be ideal to fuel it before leaving camp for short expeditions, in case one needs to retreat to base if attacked.

Placeholder.png Trivia

  • Winona's G.E.M.erator, alongside her other gadgets and the Engineering Tab, was introduced in her Character Update as part of the character overhaul for Don't Starve Together.
  • According to Rhymes With Play #228, Winona's G.E.M.erator was supposed to be a battery, but was rather named a G.E.M.erator partly because of the wordplay.[1]
