Exclusive to: Don't Starve Together icon.png

Slingshot Ammo is a Character-specific Item craftable only by Walter in the Survivor Items Filter. It is used exclusively with the Trusty Slingshot. There is a variety of ammo with different effects. All of them sink in the ocean.

The Melty Marbles Trinket can also be used as ammo. It deals 59.5 damage but cannot be crafted.

All the Ammo that requires Walter's Skill Tree to craft also require the skills to use.

With no skills, Walter crafts 20 ammo at once when crafting ammo, except for Ickies which he crafts 10 of. Walter with the "Ammo Smith" skill can craft ammo faster and get 50% more ammo. For all ammo except Ickies, he crafts 30 instead of 20. For Ickies, he crafts 15 instead of 10.

-Scrapbook Description

Cursed Rounds deal 51 damage, the same as Marbles, and have a 50% chance to summon Shadow Tentacles on hit. It requires 1 Nightmare Fuel and 1 Thulecite Fragments and needs an Ancient Pseudoscience Station to prototype.

Damage Analysis

Shadow tentacles will deal 34 damage twice per tentacle. Assuming a perfectly stationary enemy (most are not) and that every 2nd shot summons a tentacle, and given the Trusty Slingshot's 0.9 second per shot; on average, Cursed Rounds will deal 85 damage per hit.

On a either the Scrappy or scrappier Frame, the damage dealt by shadow tentacles are not doubled, which leads to the average damage per shot being 136 instead of the expected 170.

It has an increasing chance to trigger an explosion, dealing double damage in a large area.

-Scrapbook Description

The Kablooies do 59.5 damage, and it has a 5% chance to trigger an explosion that can deal double damage in a 3 Walls radius area. Each consecutive shot that doesn't trigger increases the chance by 5%. If no shots are fired for 5 seconds, the explosion chance is reset back to 5%. It requires 1 Gunpowder, 1 Flint and 1 Cut grass to craft.

Unlike Gunpowder, Kablooies do not ignite flammable targets.

Unlike other ammo with special damage effects, the explosion damage from Kablooies is affected by the Scrappy and Scrappier frames. A singular bullet on either the scrappy or scrappier Frame has an average damage of 141.5.

Damage Analysis

According to very complicated theorems, the average chance to roll an explosion is ~18.9%. This equates to an average damage of 70.75, which outperforms dread pebbles against un-armored targets.

It applies the Swarming Horror debuff to creatures it hits, dealing 10 planar damage periodically. Up to 4 Swarming Horrors can be stacked on each target.

-Scrapbook Description

The Pure Horror Rounds deals 17 Physical Damage and 20 Planar Damage on hit, and then does 10 Planar Damage for 7 ticks, resulting in 107 damage in total. Shooting multiple Pure Horror Rounds can stack up to 4 ticks per second. It requires 1 Pure Horror and 1 Rocks and needs a Shadowcraft Plinth to prototype. The damage over time effect is not affected by either the scrappy or scrappier Frame, which leads the damage per big shot to be 144 instead of the expected 214.

When the player wears Void Cowl and uses Trusty Slingshot with Slingshot Void Wrap, it deals 10% more Physical Damage and 5 more Planar Damage. The tick damage is unchanged but does 2 more ticks (9 ticks in total).

When using Pure Horror Rounds against Lunar Aligned creatures, they deal 10% more total damage (Physical + Planar Damage). Walter must unlock the Shadow Slinger skill to use them, which also grants a 10% damage boost against Lunar Aligned creatures, resulting in a 21% total damage increase. This applies after Void set bonus.

Since the maximum amount of swarming horrors at once is 4, the DPS in practice will likely be lower than expected, especially in combination with higher fire rate grips, unless you pause between shots.

Walter must unlock the Lunar Slinger skill to use them, which also grants a 10% damage boost against Shadow Aligned creatures, resulting in a 21% total damage increase against Shadow Aligned creatures.

Damage Analysis

Since theres a 25% chance to summon a brightshade vine that deals 85 damage, we can say that on average the vines will amount to 21.25 damage per shot on average. Adding this to the initial 68 damage gives us 89.25 damage on average.

The brightshade vine attack is not affected by either the scrappy or scrappier Frame, leading the average damage per big shot to be 157.25, instead of the expected 178.5.

It applies a Pure Brilliance mark to creatures it hits, lasting 30 seconds. This mark can be triggered by planar attacks for an additional 5 planar damage per hit.

-Scrapbook Description

The Pure Brilliance Rounds deal 34 Physical Damage and 20 Planar Damage and apply a Pure Brilliance mark to hit creatures for 30 seconds. Planar attacks trigger the mark for an extra 5 Planar Damage per hit, while the Brightshade Staff doubles its damage and deals 20 Planar Damage per hit. It requires 1 Pure Brilliance and needs a Brightsmithy to prototype.

The Marked creatures emit a glow, but it is not strong enough to ward off Charlie's attack.

When using Pure Brilliance Rounds against Shadow Aligned creatures, they deal 10% more total damage (Physical + Planar Damage). Walter must unlock the Lunar Slinger skill to use them, which also grants a 10% damage boost against Shadow Aligned creatures, resulting in a 21% total damage increase against Shadow Aligned creatures.

Prototype.pngTips

  • Before rifts, Cursed Rounds are the best ammo type you can get in terms of raw dps, however this assumes all tentacles hit the target, which is unlikely for mobile targets.
    • Instead, Kablooies allow for a much more reliable source of damage, also acting as the best early game Scrappy frame big shot damage, as the explosion is affected by the extra damage.
    • Alternatively, Shockscrap rounds are able to deal more damage, however they have a hefty crafting recipe and only reach max potency when it rains.
  • Ickies are an incredibely good way to take care of mobile targets like Bee Queen and Dragonfly and synergize well with Cursed rounds and Brightshade husk rounds.
  • Stinger Zingers can quickly replenish themselves by taking out Bees at a cheaper cost than their crafting recipe, allowing for a very solid early game ammo type that can also defeat Birds and Rabbits in 1 hit.
