Twigs are one of the first Items acquired at the start of a new default game and are needed to craft many tools and other useful items, making them one of the most important crafting materials in Don't Starve.
Twigs should be one of the first items a player gathers at the start of a new game, along with Flint and Cut Grass.
Twigs can be collected from Saplings, Spiky Bushes, Cave Banana Trees, and Spiky Trees. Spiky and Cave Banana Trees can be chopped down using any Axe and will drop one Twigs. Saplings and Spiky Bushes can be picked for 1 twigs and will regrow after 4 days. Twigs can sometimes be found as loot from Skeletons.
Twigs are not edible, but they can be used as filler in many Crock Pot recipes and are required for making Fishsticks, Powdercake, and Kabobs.
Twigs can be harvested from Tumbleweeds, making them 100% renewable even if all the Saplings and Spiky Bushes end up burning. They can also be used in several new recipes, like the Battle Spear and Eyebrella, and can be fed to Beefalo to restore 10 and 10 .
Digging up a planted Pine Cone, Birchnut or Twiggy Tree Cone will yield Twigs. Twigs can also be crafted by Wilson if the Transmutation Skill is selected. When cut down, Twiggy Trees drop varying amounts of Twigs depending on their size, unless they are in their dead lifecycle state. They will also periodically drop Twigs on their own. Additionally, they are also dropped by Grass Gators and can be attached to a Sea Fishing Rod as a Float. They are much less effective for healing Beefalo, restoring only 2 and 9.375 .
Twigs cannot be fed to Beefalo due to this item lacking the tradable component. This bug is not present in the Reign of Giants DLC or in Don't Starve Together.
