The Crystaleyezer is inactive when first built. To activate it, the player must insert a Deerclops Eyeball into it. The Eyeball can be removed at any time to deactivate the Crystaleyezer's effects.
When activated, the Crystaleyezer has a small aura of ice (similar to the one made by Crystal Deerclops) next to it that deals freezing damage to players stepping within. This means that activating or deactivating it will usually cause some damage. Additionally, while next to the Crystaleyezer, players and creatures gain freeze stacks, which makes them more vulnerable to freezing attacks such as the Ice Staff.
The activated Ice Crystaleyezer emits an aura of cold temperature in a radius of 8.75 tiles (35 wall units), making the ambient temperature -10 degrees, which:
Causes perishable items to spoil 25% slower and Ice to not melt
The activated Crystaleyezer also creates a Mini Glacier every 7-12 days, up to a maximum of 6. This works even in the Caves.
The activated structure is also displayed on the Map prominently and reveals the fog of war around it, much like the Ocuvigil.
The Ice Crystaleyezer Kit and the built structure drop the full Spark Ark when deconstructed with the Deconstruction Staff. The structure drops an empty Spark Ark if destroyed with a hammer.
Trivia
The Ice Crystaleyezer was introduced in the Host of Horrors update.
On initial beta release, the Ice Crystaleyezer was a structure you could pre-craft. This caused issues due to it being exclusive to the Brightsmithy and not showing up when away from it. The previously unimplemented Ice Crystaleyezer Kit was added in Update 575324.
On beta release prior to update 576123, the Ice Crystaleyezer did not drop the Spark Ark at all when deconstructed or hammered.
Prior to beta update 576473, the Ice Crystaleyezer had a smaller radius of 6.25 tiles (25 wall units).
