Exclusive to: 
Ancient Murals are Don't Starve Together objects, introduced in A New Reign. They are present in the Atrium Biome, appearing in bigger quantities near the Ancient Gateway. Their only purpose is to be inspected for a set of 5 different quotes for each character, giving away part of the history of the Ancient Civilization.
Upon reading a mural, the character will say their first quote. Reading the same mural will always give the same quote. In order to get the second one, the player must find another Mural, and so on. After getting the 5th inspection, the next one will cycle back to the first

“It depicts an old civilization. The people look hungry and scared.”

“A mural of an ancient civilization, but something is wrong...”
Depicts an old and underdeveloped civilization, composed of insect (or likely arthropod) people. They live in misery, suffering from hunger and fear. This is before they discovered Nightmare Fuel.
2nd Mural
“This tablet is too worn to make out.”
“Can't tell what that was a picture of.”
“Cannot tell what was picture of.”
“A piece of their story, lost to time.”
“TARGET DATA LOST”
“This mural panel is too eroded to decipher.”
“Nothin' of interest left here.”
“We all know what happens next.”
“There is nö painting here. Önly stöne.”
“This picture's all messed up.”
“This tablet's all worn down.”
“Can't read it”
“Can't make heads or tails of this picture.”
“There's some magic residue on the stone. Not much else.”
“Can't see pictures, florp.”

“Whatever was here has been lost to time.”
Something mysterious happens to said civilization. No character is able to decipher what is depicted, though Maxwell knows what happened.
3rd Mural
“Something dark creeps over the city and its people.”
“I think someone spilled ink on this picture.”
“In picture darkness covers sad, weak people.”
“They are consumed by darkness.”
“THE CREATURES ARE SUBMERGED IN BEAUTIFUL OIL”
“A dark shadow, or perhaps a substance, overtakes the civilization.”
“Black muck is covering everything in this drawing.”
“They gained such an enviable power...”
“A great evil sweeps acröss the land.”
“There's a lot of black goop in this picture.”
“The world is flooded by a finely fermented black bean sauce.”

“The people are drowning in axle grease.”

Depicts Nightmare Fuel overtaking the civilization, drowning it in darkness and giving the people "enviable" power.

“The people are shedding their skins. They look different underneath.”
“Oh, gross! The people're losing their skin in this one!”
“Monsters is bursting out of them!”
“Then, rebirth.”

Depicts the people shedding their skins and leaving their external body, changing their appearance completely.
5th Mural
“It shows a massive, technologically advanced city.”
“It's just a picture of a city.”
“Is picture of very pretty place.”
“Finally, a city, full of life.”
“IT SHOWS A CITY MADE OF SHINING METAL”
“The city appears exponentially more prosperous.”
“Looks like a bustling city.”
“But it won't work.”
“A glittering city, blessed by the göds.”
“A picture of a city. It looks like a nice place to live.”
“The prawns have ascended into deliciousness.”
“Pretty picture!”
“A picture of a beautiful, well engineered city.”
“They probably shouldn't have used that much magic.”
“They had village here.”

“They had the right idea for a while, but they must have made a mistake.”
Depicts a massively advanced civilization, with high technology and prosperity. All the problems seem to be solved. This appears to be after the Nightmare Fuel and before their eventual destruction due to the overuse of the same fuel.
Trivia
- The Ancient Murals and other elements present in the Atrium seem to be made of a material different from Thulecite.
- The Atrium Ancient Statues are an exception to this, having their inside made of Thulecite, though this may be a reference to the 4th Mural inspection.
