A Dragon Fruit is a rare Fruit that has a 5% chance to be grown from Farm plots by planting Seeds (or 4.75% Reign of Giants or 3.7% Shipwrecked). Dragon Fruits can also be produced by feeding a caged Bird a Dragon Fruit to receive 1-2 Dragon Fruit Seeds and a 50% chance to get a generic seed.

Dragon Fruit, along with 3 twigs, is recommended to be cooked into Dragonpie because Dragonpie restores a lot more hunger and health. Furthermore, Dragonpie is fresh longer than the time it takes Dragon Fruit to rot; Dragon Fruit should be cooked into Dragonpie the earliest possible.

Dragon Fruit is among the better crops for farming due to Dragonpie.

Prepared Dragon Fruit is made by Cooking Dragon Fruit on a CampfireFire Pit or Star. It restores significantly more Health and slightly more Hunger than its raw counterpart. It can also be used as an ingredient in several Crock Pot recipes. Roasting the rotting Dragon Fruit is a good way to prepare fresher Dragonpie.
