Oinc is the currency used in the Hamlet DLC to purchase Items from Pig Shops. Players can acquire them by exchanging items with various Pig Traders (see page for more information).

The player will also be rewarded one Oinc for picking up Manure in the city, by the closest pig in range. Be careful then to pick Manure so that nearby Pigs can see it. After getting paid, all pigs will be on a short cooldown, preventing the player from being paid for picking up manure. This cooldown can be seen, as the pig who paid the player will not move until the cooldown ends. When the paying pig moves, the player can get paid for picking up another Manure. Oincs are necessary for crafting Items and Structures in the Renovate Tab.

In the Shipwrecked DLC, all kinds of Oincs can be spent at the Slot Machine for a chance of a variety of rewards. They have a 50% chance to Wilton's Skull.pngWilton's Skull.pngWilton's Skull.png, a 33.3% chance to Carrot.pngCarrot.pngCarrot.png, and the chance for Gold Nugget.pngGold Nugget.pngGold Nugget.png remains the same as a Dubloon. Though the Tenpiece Oinc and the Centapiece Oinc are much more valuable than an Oinc, they are still being treated as a Oinc by The Slot Machine.

Placeholder.png Trivia

Truffles in an early concept of Don't Starve.
  • The word Oinc comes from the word "oink" (the sound that pigs make) and is an anagram of the word "coin".
  • Oincay or oinc-ay is the Pig Latin word for "coin".
  • The symbol in all Oinc, Tenpiece & Centapiece version is a truffle. This might be a reference to how pigs are trained to hunt for truffles. It may also be a reference to an early alpha Don't Starve concept of using truffles as trading currency.
  • In the game files, the Tenpiece Oinc is named Silver Coin, the Centapiece Oinc is named Jade Coin and the Oinc is named Coin.
  • Before the Hamlet update 309895, an easy way to get Oincs in the game is to find the End's Well in the same Ancient Pig Ruins as the Aporkalypse Calendar. At the End's Well, the player can farm Nightmare Fuel, and offer it to the well in return for Purple Gems. These gems can then be given to the Banker at the Swinesbury Mineral Exchange for a Tenpiece Oinc each, a unlimited amount of times, which makes for an extremely easy and efficient way to make Oincs.
