Insight
Insight is an in-game point system used to progress Skill Trees for Characters in Don't Starve Together. Characters can gain Insight Points and use them to unlock unique Skills. Insight Points are awarded after a number of days survived as the character, up to 15 total points after 68 days. Insight persists between games/worlds, as it is linked to a player's account. Note that time as a Ghost does not count toward gaining Insight Points.
There are more Skills to select from than total available Insight, meaning the player must deliberate between which Skills are to be unlocked. A character's unlocked Skills are reset on joining a new world/server, and can be reset in-game via using a Moon Rock Idol on the Celestial Portal in an existing world, allowing players to unlock different skills if they wish.

Trivia
Wormwood
- "Compost Care" was formerly known as "Skilled Self-fertilizer".
- Its original description was: "Self-fertilizes faster with Compost Wraps." (Animation is approximately 60% shorter).
- In Beta Update 565757, several skills were tweaked:
- The skill "Petal Production" has been replaced by "Photosynthesis" skill.
- The skill “Farm Hand II" has been replaced by "Skilled Self-fertilizer" skill.
- The skill “Farm Hand III" has been replaced by "Bramble Trap Specialist" skill.
- The skill “Farmhand I" has been replaced by "Farmhand" skill.
- Wormwood's Bulbous Lightbugs can no longer be caught with the Bug Net.
- Wormwood's Carrats can no longer be caught with Traps.
- Bees don't feel bothered when their Bee Box was harvested by Wormwood while Wormwood had the "Bee Kind" Skill.
- The "Farm Hand" Skill now makes Wormwood harvest farm crops faster.
- Initially, the Bee Kind had a different icon, and its description was: "Killer bees won't leave their hives or attack unless provoked."
- Previously, there was a Fly Trap skill. Its description read: "Fruit flies will be drawn to you instead of farm plants. The Lord of the Fruit Flies is more likely to appear." (Number of maturing crops required to Spawn Lord of the Fruit Flies halved (8 instead of 15).
- Previously, there was a Butterfly Friend skill which later got merged into the "Bee Kind" skill. Its description was: "Butterflies will no longer fly away from you."
- Old Moon Shroom Cloud description was: "Release sleep-inducing spores when eating a Moon Shroom."
Winona
- Old Shadow Seeker II description was: "The Queen will watch over you."
Walter
- Until Beta Update 653998 Walter's Skill tree was absolutly different:
- The Ammo section had "Moon Glass Rounds", "Stinger Rounds", "Shockscrap Rounds", "Gunpowder Rounds", "Dreadstone Rounds" and "Sticky Rounds" skills, each provided crafting of the corresponding rounds. There was also "Projectile Pro I" and "Projectile Pro II" which used to double amount of ammos crafted before Walter's base ammo crafting from 10 to 20 rounds. Later, it was changed to craft 5-10 more ammos from the skills, after that it got condensed into the "Ammo Smith" skill.
- In the "Shadow Slinger" skill, Icker Rounds ( or Ickies ) used to give the same amount of ammos crafted like any regular one. It was changed to only give 5 rounds.
- Woby Training section had "Basic Training" skill which unlocked Woby Training Station craft. There were also "Agility Training II", "Bravery Training II", "Support Training II", "Digging Training II" and "Fetching Training II" skills. They opened the second tiers of badges at the Training Station.
- The Customizer section had "Basic Customization" skill (no different from now). The others later got condensed into one skill:
- The "Flailing Band" skill was replaced with "Advanced Grips" skill.
- The "Sticky Grips" and "Void Wrap" skills were replaced with "Advanced Bands" skill.
- The "Thulecite Frame" and "Scrappy Frame" skills were replaced with "Advanced Frames" skill.
- Affinity section only had "Shadow Slinger" and "Lunar Slinger".
- All facts below are related to the skill tree before its complete rework:
- Old name of "Basic Customization" skill was "Slingshotsmith".
- Old name of "Void Wrap" skill was "Void Grip".
- Initially, to get the first levels of badges for Woby Training Station in beta, player had to get the necessary skill. Later, the "Agility Training I", "Bravery Training I", "Support Training I", "Digging Training I" and "Fetching Training I" skills were removed.
- Initially, instead of the skill "Sticky Grips", there was the "Sticky Handle" skill and it only gave the recipe for Slingshot Sticky Handle.
- There is an unused skill in the game files called "Infused Moonglass Rounds Maker". Which apparently was supposed to craft Infused Moonglass Rounds Maker that were found in the game files.
- "Gunpowder Rounds" and "Sticky Rounds Maker" skills previously had different icons.
- "Moon Glass Rounds", "Stinger Round", "Shockscrap Rounds", "Gunpowder Rounds", "Dreadstone Rounds", and "Sticky Rounds" previously had the word "Maker" after the name, like "Moon Glass Rounds Maker" skill. After that, all the ammos got renamed a day before release:
- "Moon Glass Rounds" to "Moonshots"
- "Stinger Rounds" to "Stinger Zingers"
- "Shockscrap Rounds" to "Shockscrap Shots"
- "Honey Rounds" to "Stickies"
- "Gunpowder Rounds" to "Kablooies"
- "Dreadstone Rounds" to Dreaded Pebbles" (later to Dread Pebbles)
Wendy
- "Blessed Sisturn III" and "Blessed Sisturn IV" used to raise Abigail's maximum health to 900 and 1200 health when putting her to rest near a Sisturn. The perform action was called "RIP Abigail".
- "Blessed Sisturn IV" also had been removed and "Blessed Sisturn III" got changed.
- "Team Spirit IV" which gave the "Haunt" ability for Abigail was later added to "Team Spirit III" skill.
- "Final Resting Place?" allowed you to dig graves with a shovel. Later it was added and rework "Gravestone by Wendy" skill.
- Dark Petals II" skill which unlock the craft to make the Floral Shroud was later removed.
- The reviving animation by the Penetrial Alter from "Mourning Glory III" previously didn't have a unique animation for Wendy.
- The Brew part used to have only 3 skills: "Strong Brew I", "Strong Brew II" and "Strong Brew III". Later, the first 2 skill were removed, and the last one was renamed to "Strong Brew". Now "Strong Brew" skill includes peculiarities of all 3 skills.
- The Lunar Affinity "Lunar Sisterhood I", "Lunar Sisterhood II" and "Lunar Sisterhood III" skills previously were called "Lunar Allegiance I", "Lunar Allegiance II" and "Lunar Allegiance III".
- The Shadow Affinity "Shadow Sisterhood I", "Shadow Sisterhood II" and "Shadow Sisterhood III" skills previously were called "Shadow Allegiance I", "Shadow Allegiance II" and "Shadow Allegiance III".
- Previously in beta, the "Cursed Vexation" elixir only extended the vex duration effect to foes. With the "Luminous Wrath" elixir, it only applied +5 Planar Damage to Abigail.
- Lunar Abigail used to deal 150, 200, and 400 physical damage based on the day/night cycle. It was changed to her dealing 200, 250 and 350 physical damage.
Wortox
- Previously "Pleasant Pastorale" Skill had other icon and the ability to increasing sleep time by Pan Flute.
- Previously "Reaching Souls II" Skill had another icon and the ability for dropped souls to heal at an increased range and move faster towards you.
- The "Knabsacker" Skill used to able to deal Planar Damage if Pure Brillance and Pure Horror were inside Wortox's inventory. This was later removed.
- The "Overflowing Greed" Skill used to only increased soul held by 2 per Soul Jars, up to maximum of 5 Jars. This was later reworked.
- The "Convetous Collector" Skill used to increase the damage of the Knabsack based on how many souls were filled, and only the held Knabsack can boost up the damage of "Soul Decoy" and "Soul Pierce" skills.
- Wortox's "Lunar Swingler" Skill previously only blocked the damage from Shadow Aligned enemies.
