Pirate Raids are events exclusive to Don't Starve Together, introduced in The Curse of Moon Quay update. They occur periodically when a player is on a Boat within 800 metres from the Queen of Moon Quay.

Pirate Raids increase in frequency when there are more players. If there are more players within 300 metres of the Queen of Moon Quay, not counting an average age of players being higher on a server, then the maximum spawn rate will be capped at 81 days. With only a single player within 300 metres of Queen of Moon Quay, and an average age of 81 days, the pirate raid has 20% chance to spawn every 360 seconds.

The raid involves a Pirate Sloop, with 2 to 5 Powder Monkeys and a Prime Mate quickly approaching the player's boat. The number of Powder Monkeys increases with the average amount of players on a server, with the maximum number of monkeys capped at 61 days. Once close enough, the monkeys will jump on board to steal any items on the boat or from the player, destroy any Masts, then return to their boat and leave.

Monkeys will not attack the player during the raid unless attacked themselves. If any of the monkeys finds a Banana as part of the raid, they will take it and immediately leave.

Fighting the monkeys can be dangerous, as an unprepared player can be easily overwhelmed by all the monkeys attacking. However defeating the Prime Mate is the only way to obtain the Pirate Map, which points out the location of a Pirate Stash, which holds any stolen items as well as potentially the rare blueprints for Polly Roger's Hat and the Pirate Banner. Defeating the Prime Mate is the only way to obtain the Captain's Tricorn and the Battle Paddle, the former of which is required to craft Polly Roger's Hat.

If the player is able to successfully hit an oncoming Pirate Sloop with a Cannon, the raiders will leave.

All Powder Monkeys on the Sloop are equipped with a Pirate's Bandana and a Cutless.
