The Enlightened Crown is an item exclusive to Don't Starve Together, introduced in Return of Them. It is dropped by the Celestial Champion. If a Deconstruction Staff is used to break this item, it will drop five Enlightened Shards.

It restores 10 per minute while worn. When worn by a player with Sanity above 85%, it provides constant light. It will also produce a Minor Gestalt with each hit that will attack the target for 42.5 damage, at the cost of one per hit. Players wearing it will not be attacked by naturally spawned Gestalts.

The Enlightened Crown has five inventory slots that will each accept one of any color of Mushroom Spore. The color of the spores inside the crown influences the color of light emitted by the crown while worn, similar to a Glowcap. Any spores inside the crown will not be affected by spoilage. Any spores inside a crown will be dropped on the ground when deconstructed.

Celestial Jewel

When five Celestial Jewels are inserted into the Enlightened Crown, in addition to the effects the crown usually has, the crown changes the player's Sanity meter to Enlightenment meter and locks it at 100%.

This allows for the player to continuously summon the Gestalts for extra damage without needing Sanity food to keep their sanity up.

The Enlightenment-locking effect is similar to the Nightmare Amulet or Bone Helm in that the player's Sanity can still change, but it won't affect the world. For example, if the player's Sanity is at 80% when putting the crown on, and they stand near an insanity aura, their Sanity could theoretically decrease to 0, and would be at 0 (not 80%) when they take the crown off. However, the player won't realize any effects from their sanity being at zero while the crown stays on.

Inimical Gestalts will spawn near a player wearing an Enlightened Crown containing five Celestial Jewels and will remain neutral to a player wearing an Enlightened Crown unless attacked.

Tips

• Walter does not regain sanity from clothing items. However, the Enlightened Crown is considered a magic item, not a clothing item, so Walter will still get sanity from it.
