Mushroom Lights are Don't Starve Together exclusive objects, introduced in A New Reign. They can only be prototyped by learning their respective Blueprint which will be dropped randomly, when a Toadstool is killed or when a Loot Stash is opened after killing Klaus.

Both lights have four inventory slots that accept a single item only, similar to a Crock Pot. In these, players must place Light Bulbs, Glow Berries (or their lesser variant), Mushroom Spores, Festive Lights, Enlightened Shards or Crustashines for the lights to function. The lights also act like an Ice Box and slow down the spoilage of the light sources put inside by 75%, extending the spoilage time by four times. Light Bulbs that spoil inside a mushroom light will drop rot on the ground nearby. If an Enlightened Crown Shard is placed in a mushroom light all perishable items in the light's inventory will not spoil. Festive Lights can be used for infinite source of light, as they will still glow even when they reach 0%.

How's it work without circuitry?

Winona, when examining a Mushlight.

The Mushlight is a basic light source that can accept all items listed above except for Mushroom Spores. The light emitted by a Mushlight will always be colored white, regardless of the color of Festive Lights and Enlightened Shards placed inside. The more items placed inside, the bigger the light radius will be.

Pfft, well that was a bright idea.

Willow, when examining a Glowcap.

The Glowcap is a more advanced version of the Mushlight, having a more expensive recipe. Unlike a Mushlight, a Glowcap is able to accept Mushroom Spores. Mushroom Spores, Festive Lights and Enlightened Crown Shards placed inside will also make it glow in Red, Green or Blue depending on the item. Light Bulbs, Glow Berries, empty Enlightened Shards and Crustashines will produce white light. Additionally, by mixing multiple colors in a Glowcap, one can obtain other color tones besides of the former three:

  • Purple- 1 Red Spores, 3 Blue Spore
  • Pink- 3 Light Bulbs, 1 Red Spore
  • Yellow- 2 Red Spores, 2 Green Spores
  • Orange- 3 Red Spores, 1 Green Spore
  • White- 1 of each spore type, leaving 1 slot empty.
  • Cyan- 2 Blue Spores, 2 Green Spores

The more items of certain color added into the Glowcap, the stronger the color will be visible. Adding colorless light sources will brighten the color.
