The Mush Gnome is a Mob exclusive to Don't Starve Together and introduced in Return of Them. They can be found in the Lunar Grotto, and are passive towards the player. They will occasionally spawn Lunar Spores when walking around. When attacked, they spin and spawn multiple explosive Lunar Spores around them. They are immune to the damage caused by the Lunar Spores. When involved in combat, they avoid most mobs and walk away from them.

Upon death, they drop 1 to 2 Living Logs (with a 50% chance for the second one), 3 to 5 Lunar Spores, and 2 Moon Shrooms. They reappear 1 day after being killed.

They take 3 Sleep Darts to be put to sleep and 2 blasts from an Ice Staff to be frozen.

When on the surface, Mush Gnomes will sleep at night. Outside of the Lunar Grotto, they also have an insanity aura.

Spear.png Combat

A Fire Staff may be a good choice of weapon, as setting a Mush Gnome on fire will cause the explosive lunar spores it produces to be burnt. However, one should keep in mind that making it die to fire damage will cause it to only drop Ash, destroying its original drops.

Below is the number of hits it takes with each weapon to kill a Mush Gnome when playing with characters with a default damage modifier. The Weather Pain, Brightshade Staff, and Bee Mine are not included due to their random natures. This table does not take into account the damage bonus gained from characters with a lunar or shadow affinity. It also does not take into account the 40% damage bonus Wendy gets from attacking the same mob as Abigail, Wanda's damage bonus with Shadow weapons (except for the Alarming Clock, which does accurately reflect that bonus), or Wolfgang's damage multiplier when he isn't mighty.
