The Frostjaw is a Boss exclusive to Don't Starve Together. It is a large humanoid shark with icy features. It can be spawned at the Ice Fishing Hole, which is on an ice island in the Rough Ocean. For the Frostjaw be spawned, the player must catch 3 Deep Bass with a Sea Fishing Rod at the Ice Fishing Hole. The Ice Fishing Hole then disappears.

Behavior

By default, the Frostjaw is passive towards the player and simply walks around. Once attacked, it becomes aggressive and starts fighting.

It has 3 attacks rotating in this order:

• It performs a melee attack with 2 swipes, followed by a third swipe with its tail which knocks targets back.
• It summons 2 walls of Ice Spikes in the direction of the target and dives between the walls, dealing damage and knocking targets back. Depending on the dive's angle, it may destroy only some of the Ice Spikes, leaving the rest as obstacles.
• It swims under the ice with its fin visible on the surface, and torpedoes out of it to hit its target, knocking them back and drilling back into the ground. The Frostjaw deals damage and knockback on exit as well as where it lands.

When fighting on a bigger island (in Winter), the Frostjaw's dive attack causes the island to slowly fall apart at the borders, creating small ice platforms to float away and sink after 30 seconds. This diminishes the size of the fighting area, until it reaches the minimum size of a 2-Tile radius around the center of the island where the Ice Fishing Hole was.

On defeat, rather than being killed, the Frostjaw gives up, becomes passive again, can no longer be attacked, and despawns once the area is unloaded.

After being defeated the player can trade any Ocean Meat Fish with the Frostjaw in exchange for one Bootleg Getaway, or any Heavy Ocean Meat Fish for two Bootleg Getaways. This can be done up to 5 times each time the Frostjaw is defeated.

Fighting Strategy

The boss' 3 hit combo attack can be avoided by circling around it, since the attack is directional and can't hit anything at the boss' sides. The attack will get cancelled early because of this and it won't perform the tail attack, hit it 5 times if it did 1 swipe or 6 times if it did 2 swipes.

After attempting to perform 3 hit combo 3 times, hit it 2 more times and start circling around to end up at it's side and not blocked by ice walls that it'll summon in a second by lowering it's hands to the ground and summoning ice out of the ground, then keep hitting it until it slightly opens it's mouth before launching itself between the ice walls, follow it and hit it until it starts shaking it's head, then walk away from it for around half a second and start walking back to where it was, then attack it 3 times after it got stuck in the ice to break it out of the ice, step forward since it'll get launched forward after breaking out of the ice and keep hitting it until it starts shaking his head.

After this it'll attempt to perform 3 hit combo 2 times and then dive, avoid 3 hit combo by circling around it and start walking into it's direction after hitting it 5-6 times after the 2nd attempt to perform the 3 hit combo to avoid the dive, then it'll repeat everything starting from summoning the ice walls.

Speedboost is not required for dodging any of the boss' attacks. Only a weapon (e.g. a Ham Bat) and, optionally, 1 armor item (e.g. a Football Helmet) are recommended for attempting to kill the boss.

The Ice Spike or Ice is an object exclusive to Don't Starve Together. It is spawned by the Frostjaw during its dive attack, and remains indefinitely until it melts or gets destroyed. It can be mined with a Pickaxe, dropping 1 Ice with a 75% chance for a second Ice. If it is destroyed by the Frostjaw, it does not drop Ice.

Ice spikes can be mined in one hit when using Pick/Axe or Brightshade Smasher, or while under the effects of Honey Crystals.

• The Frostjaw was introduced in the Skill Spotlight: Wigfrid & Willow update.
• In beta after defeat, it dropped 2 Bootleg Getaways with a 50% chance for a third one.
• The prefab name "sharkboi" may be a reference to the movie "Sharkboy and Lavagirl"
